They spent the majority of their lives on separate continents. Kirsten grew up in sunny San Diego and Tom grew up over 5,000 miles away in the Netherlands. Call it destiny. Call it fate. Call it being in the right place at the right time. Their paths crossed on the east coast where Kirsten teaches kindergarten and Tom moved to the states to coach soccer. A real story of finding true love, these two quickly became smitten with each other. I technically 'met' Kirsten via Skype, for our first bridal consultation. We chatted about San Diego and wedding details. She proudly stated that their wedding colors were an homage to Tom's Dutch culture and love for soccer. " Our wedding colors are orange and white. It's kind of an obnoxious orange," she giggled. Hmmm. Obnoxious orange? I wasn't sure what to expect. Nobody had described their wedding colors as obnoxious before.... On July 12th, I walked up the garden path at Twin Oaks Garden Estate and saw the most beautiful wedding venue. Vibrant trees, trickling fountains and colorful gardens in every direction. There is no shortage of lovely, romantic details at Twin Oaks. As I approached the sweet yellow school house that has been transformed into a beautiful bridal suite, I see the wonderful staff putting the finishing touches on the reception area. Pops of vibrant orange were showcased by gorgeous tulip centerpieces, decorative branches and hanging chandeliers beneath a draped white ceiling. There was nothing obnoxious about this wedding..... It was gorgeous in every way. Kirsten arrived with a big smile and her sweet dimples prominent on her face. Only a couple hours until she would marry the man of her dreams.... I LOVE the orange tulips, another detail inspired by the beauty of the Netherlands. Gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces by Flora Glamor of San Diego. I love this sweet moment after they were announced Husband and Wife! Look at those smiles!! There were so many details to represent Tom's Dutch heritage. The orange tulips might have been my favorite! And how cute are these favors? Bottle openers in the shape of the iconic Dutch shoe! This wedding was so fun! Everyone was laughing and having a good time. Let me tell you, the Dutch certainly know how to party! I had so much fun with Tom and his groomsmen. They kept me laughing the entire night. Add in the frozen yogurt bar (YES! Frozen Yogurt from Golden Spoon, YUM!) it was one AMAZING wedding night! I love these father/daughter moments! Kirsten was on the dance floor the entire night! Tom and Kirsten, I could post about a hundred more fun photos from your wedding. It truly was a good time. Thank you for letting me be a part of it! I know your marriage will last a lifetime because of the way you look at each other, speak to each other and laugh with each other. Cheers!! Proost!!
