I went through my normal wedding day routine: enjoyed my two cups of coffee, cleaned my cameras and lenses, checked (and rechecked) my bags to ensure all my gear was packed and ready for another exciting wedding day. I grabbed my water, kissed my hubby and two kiddos goodbye and was in full photographer mode. I walked into the San Diego Marriott, camera gear in hand, ready to see the normal, hustle and bustle of a wedding day morning. If you've been a bridesmaid in a wedding you know the scene... curling irons and hair straighteners plugged in all over the room, shoe boxes and overnight bags piled in every corner and the inevitable scatter of half finished Starbucks drinks next to a half eaten tray of room service. Someone is frantically searching for a missing lip liner while the maid of honor takes a selfie. It's a fun type of organized chaos that gets each wedding day going right off the bat! It's high energy and why I have that second cup of coffee! :) But this day... this day was different. I walked in to see a cool and collected bride. Amanda had a huge smile on her face. Hair and makeup were finished ahead of schedule (which rarely happens!) The room was immaculate. This is how our day began and it led us into an entire stress-free and non-rushed wedding day. The big window let in the perfect amount of natural light, to give Amanda the most beautiful glow to her skin and even though the hotel room was on the smaller side, being tidy really added to the polished look of the getting ready photos. It was the perfect start to the day Amanda had been dreaming of for 10 years. Her high school sweetheart was on his way to see his stunning bride... I love these images from my assistant, Jamie Grant Photography. GORGEOUS! Michael and Amanda chose to share a First Look. This was such a great decision for their wedding, allowing more time for portraits at the iconic Balboa Park in San Diego. I absolutely loved Michael's reaction when he saw his bride for the first time. These are the moments that I live for.... weddings have so many of them. When Amanda's sister teared up as her veil was set in place, when Dad turned to see his little girl in her wedding dress and when I catch a sweet embrace or soft kiss when the happy couple thinks nobody is looking. These are the best moments of a wedding day. Ready for their First Look! Look at those smiles! One proud Mama! I love the pink and grey wedding colors!
