As I drove down to the beach, my windows down and wind swirling through my hair, I saw nothing but blue skies as far as my eye could see. It was a sunny, Friday afternoon in Pacific Beach and there was no shortage of people enjoying one of San Diego's iconic beach locations, Crystal Pier and the Crystal Pier Hotel. (The hotel has the most adorable blue and white beach bungalows right on the pier. What a fun location for people visiting San Diego on vacation, right?) I met up with Shannon and Brad on Friday afternoon and we headed down to the boardwalk with their beach cruisers. These two are the type of people that you love to know! They are fun, down to earth and really enjoy their time together and spending time with friends. They live right near the beach and wanted to incorporate their casual, beach loving lifestyle into their engagement session, so that's exactly what we did! They spent their engagement session splashing in the waves, riding bikes on the boardwalk and enjoying some sweet moments in the sand at sunset. Although the marine layer rolled in right before the sun crossed the horizon, it was a beautiful evening for some beach Lovers :) When I asked them if they could balance and hold hands as they rode down the boardwalk, they said "oh, yah, of course, we do it all the time!" Haha.. how sweet is that? I'm super clumsy and I'm sure I would end up on my head! :) How gorgeous is Shannon's engagement ring? I love the detail using my 100mm macro lens! Ring Shots are so fun! Shannon and Brad, I had so much fun! I can't wait for your wedding in the Bahamas this October. I better get working on my base tan! (And my tolerance for rum, lol)
Are you coming to San Diego for a summer vacation? Let's schedule a family portrait session to document your fun trip! San Diego has so many gorgeous locations, from the shimmering sands of La Jolla to the rustic countryside of Julian.

When you ask potential clients if they'd like to meet at a local coffee shop and they suggest a local Irish pub instead, you know you're going to mesh well! I met Shandise and Travis over a year ago as they were in their early planning stages for their San Diego wedding. We met at Hooley's Irish Pub and chatted about their upcoming spring wedding. Shandise is the type of person you instantly love and Travis makes you feel like you've known him for years. They are such a wonderful couple and I had the best time shooting their engagement session as well as their wedding this past May. Check out their romantic engagement session here. Here is a small look at their beautiful, DIY spring wedding... How gorgeous is Shandise's wedding hairstyle and wedding make-up?!? My jaw dropped when I saw her hair. It's so perfect for her style and photographs beautifully! Talk about a hands-on bride! Shandise made all the wedding decor, painted all the signs and even made the sunflower bouquets! I love that she collected dozens of lace doilies during her wedding planning process to use for wrapping her homemade bouquets. There were personal and meaningful details in every aspect of this wedding. A classic tuxedo will never go out of style. Travis was so dapper in his bow tie! We stopped by Balboa Park for a few portraits on our way down to the wedding reception in Point Loma. I love this series of portraits. The rustic bridge and beautiful greenery are so perfect for this couple's style. I love this image that my assistant Jamie (of Jamie Grant Photography) took as the bride and groom were about to go into their reception! Just stunning! I love the keyhole back to her lace wedding dress! So beautiful! The best man, maid of honor and Shandise's godfather made the best toasts! I love all the emotion and laughter. It was a genuine display of true friendship and a very close knit family. Their families were having so much fun on the dancefloor! Shandise and Travis, I wish you the best for a lifetime of happiness, love and laughter. I have no doubt that you will bring each other so much joy throughout your marriage.
